Understanding shooting mode 2

After we know about understanding for shooting mode 1 in Risphotograph older post, and now here Risphotograph back to explaining the creative photography shooting mode.

In this creative photography shooting mode, there are a little bit configuration to take your better images at the right time.

Creative mode using one or two combinations from aperture and shutter speed, or even more with another setting on your DSLR camera setting such as ISO, white balance, metering, etc. Some time you have to shoot more to make better composition in one object.

It depends on your creativity while using your DSLR camera. But now Risphothograph will explain for basic creative photography shooting mode only.

Dial mode

What is inside of creative photography shooting mode ? If you are look at your dial mode on your DSLR camera, you will find another letter beside the icon on dial mode. P,S,A,M.

Yup ! thats it. The P,S,A,M are refers to creative phothography shooting mode that allows your creativity to make extraordinary images with your DSLR camera. Let start to each function of this letters.

1. PROGRAMED

Programed dial mode (P). Camera sets shutter speed and aperture for optimal exposure. Recommended for snapshots and in other situations in which there is little time to adjust camera settings.

In P mode, you can adjust the different combinations of shutter speed and aperture. If you need blur backgroud details on your image, you can adjust the f-numbers to low value (large aperture) and fast shutter speeds that “freeze” motion.

If you need to incerase depth of field adjust the f-number to high value (small aperture) and slow shutter speeds for blur motion from your images object. All combination produce the same exposure for each setting.

2. SHUTTER SPEEDS

Shutter speeds dial mode (S). This mode let you to adjust the shutter speed value, while the aperture value will auto adjusted by your DSLR camera.

Use slow shutter speeds to suggest motion by blurring moving subjects, fast shutter speeds to “freeze” motion. For further information about shutter speed , you can read more on shutter speed article.

3. APERTURE

Aperture dial mode (A). This mode let you adjust the Aperture value, while shutter speeds value will auto adjusted by your DSLR camera to produce the optimal exposure. Large apertures (low f-numbers) reduce depth of field, blurring objects behind and in front of the main subject.

Small apertures (high f-numbers) increase depth of field, bringing out details in the background and foreground. Short field depths are generally used in portraits to blur background details, long field depths in landscape photographs to bring the foreground and background into focus.

For further information about Aperture , you can read more on Aperture article.

4. MANUAL

Manual dial mode (M). This mode will give your free combination to setting up your camera, both aperture an shutter speeds. You can adjust the high value of shutter speed for fast in time shooting to freeze motions, and blur motion while adjusted in lower time shooting.

The fastest time usually marked by word “TIME” and lowest time is marked by “BULB” on your DSLR camera screen. If you need the large depth of field you can higher the value of Aperture, it brings your images focus both foreground and background.

And if you need lower depth of field , you can lowering the value of the aperture. But always remember to make the right exposure when using this mode. And for further information about exposure , you can read the exposure article.

The Exposure Indicator

If a CPU lens is attached and a shutter speed other than “bulb” or “time“ is selected, the exposure indicator in the viewfinder and information display shows whether the photograph would be under- or over-exposed at current settings.

If the limits of the exposure metering system are exceeded, the indicator will flash.

Use of Creative photography shooting mode is more difficult to understand if you jump further to M mode.

It is better to learn step by step from the easy mode until you had a correct imagine from your images about shutter speeds, aperture, and exposure.

Shoot and shoot more to perfectly your learned while using your DSLR camera. Risphotograph hope this post helping you more to learn yor newest DSLR camera. Have a nice shoot
